Traditional niche players, in contrast to Metagination which is a niche developer, are companies offering their customers very specialized products and services based on specific expertise not held by other companies in the larger market they operate in. Their market subset, called market niche, is often highly profitable as customers highly value their products and services not offered by others. In today’s fast paced market climates, niche players are often acquired by larger companies as the latter aim to add the niche player’s expertise to their services offering without the need to spend considerable time building up the expertise themselves. While specialization can be very lucrative, the largest risk of a traditional niche player is an external innovative market change (paradigm shift) making their specialization obsolete.
Metagination has, and continuous to build, expertise in many different sectors and industries which allows us to creatively identify possible niche opportunities and assess their viability and feasibility. On positive assessment, we continue to develop these niches into an attractive value proposition of products, services and/or intellectual property.
In this way, Metagination actively pursues and operates several niches simultaneously across different industrial and consumer markets differentiating ourselves from the traditional niche player by making niche development, and not the niche activity itself, our core business. The philosophy behind our approach is our Renaissance Attitude.
Our business model is twofold. During niche development, we market our products and services to the intended end-user (B2B/B2C) to benefit from valuable customer feedback to enhance our offerings. Simultaneously, we offer potential niche buy-out candidates several options for strategically adding our expertise to their product portfolio. As we develop multiple niches across multiple markets, a traditional company acquisition is not an elegant option. Among the vehicles we employ to make the niche transfer possible are the buy-out, knowledge transfer, franchising, licensing and/or selling niche related patent portfolios, knowledge bases, prototypes and proofs of concepts. Additionally we can provide the related market studies and offer consultancy. From where we stand, this quite new and innovative niche developer business model, is our response to our future vision as to how smaller corporate initiatives will survive in a world with ever larger global corporations. It is our way to turn knowledge and creativity into value while navigating the vast and fast growing minefields of patents.
Our website is updated regularly to provide a glimpse into our current portfolio of niche activities.
